Working at the edge of contemporary drawing practice, Taylor focusses on the physicality of drawing, her work embodying a drawing ‘experience’. If we consider that drawing is a gestural act and similarly understand that body gesture is a major component in the act of speaking, Taylor questions whether it is possible to ‘hear’ drawing and ‘see’ speech/sound. Her most recent drawings take the form of sound experiences, sited in space laden with the human voice, breath, murmurs and utterances. Responding to how drawing links to the sensual, physical part of ourselves, Taylor creates intimate drawing experiences for people to connect with the world and themselves.
